We focus on transformative and expansive learning where a transformation takes place during the process of learning.
Pupils are encouraged to practise a growth mindset where every failure is looked upon as an opportunity to grow and learn, as opposed to an idea of a fixed mindset. In this methodology, while being stuck in a fixed mindset we stop learning since we view every mistake as a failure that cannot be changed and we are doomed to fail.
Encouraging growth mindset, we work towards making the students more emotionally capable of change, make them believe and reflect upon their own power and ability.
Our school has not experienced working within EU projects. We have worked in the following: Nordic programme – ‘Norden I skolen’ several times and Grundtvig programme which is a lifelong learning programme.
Although we have not worked in EU projects we have a lot of experience in developing different projects within the school, mainly in cooperation with the Educational Department of the University of Iceland.
As for our school location, being close to the centre of the city in the University area, we have hosted lot of visitors from different countries. 26 teachers are visiting this month from Europe and are part of the Erasmus+ Program, supported by the educational partnership between the University of Jaen (Spain) and the organisation English Matters, specializing in the development of educational programmes for teachers and educators in Europe.
